US welcomes China's release of two Canadian citizens

WASHINGTON, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- The US Government welcomed evening China's decision to release the two Canadian citizens Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Friday.
"We are pleased that they are returning home to Canada," Blinken said in a statement.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Friday evening that Spavor and Kovrig, who have been detained in China since 2018 on espionage charges, have boarded a plane and left China heading for Canada. (end) si.gb
