KUWAIT, Sept 23 (KUNA) -

1976 -- Kuwait's Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues decree-into-law stipulating cars' owners must obtain a driving license and register their vehicles at the Traffic Directorate General and setting penalties for violators.
1990 -- The Iraqi regime, during Kuwait's occupation, declares withdrawal of the Kuwaiti banknotes and coins and replacing them with the Iraqi currency. A single Iraqi dinar is rated at one Kuwaiti dinar.
2002 -- Kuwait takes over presidency of the Board of Governors at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for a 2002-2003 term, on behalf of the Middle East and South Asia Group.
2005 -- Kuwaiti tennis champion Mohammad Al-Ghareeb wins the 15th Arab tennis tournament, held in Jordan.
2016 -- Kuwait Club is crowned champion of the ninth premier league beating Al-Qadsiya in penalty kicks (3-2).
2020 - The Renewable Energy Program of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research obtains a patent on measuring the effect of dust on solar energy performance.
2020 - Kuwait SC wins the Basketball Federation Cup 2019/2020 after beating Al-Qadsiya SC 88/71. (end) aa
