Chinese Pres.: World needs to advocate peace, humankind development

BEIJING, Sept 22 (KUNA) -- The international community needs to advocate peace, progress and humankind development and work to confront global threats and challenges, said Chinese President Xi Jinping.
This came in a speech delivered by President Xi Tuesday at the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
President Xi noted that his country will continue to raise cooperation with the UN to a new level, noting that 2021 is an exceptional year for China, as it marks the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
He also called for the need to strengthen international cooperation in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that China will continue to support the scientific investigation on the virus source.
Differences and problems among countries must be handled through dialogue and cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual respect, he added.
The Chinese president also went on calling for establishing equal and balanced global development partnership relations, pushing up the level of coordination and effectiveness of the multilateral cooperation process in the field of development, and accelerating the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
