Indian reports 491 deaths due to COVID-19, 39,070 positive

NEW DELHI, Aug 8 (KUNA) -- Indian health authorities said on Sunday that 491 people died due to COVID-19 while 39,070 fresh positive cases were registered from different parts of the country in a span of 24 hours.
Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that fatalities due to COVID-19 climbed to 427,862 as the total positive cases mounted to 31,934,455.
The Indian health ministry said that 31,099,771 people recovered from the pandemic as the second wave hit the nation unprepared. (end) atk.gta
