TOKYO, Aug 7 (KUNA) -- There are 50 pictograms representing 33 Olympic sports that feature in the Tokyo Games.
The Olympic sport pictograms were first introduced at the 1964 Tokyo Games as a means of transcending language barriers to communicate information to visitors and participants effectively by using stylized figures. Since then, pictograms have been created for every edition of the Games.
While inspired by those from the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, pictograms for Tokyo 2020 are designed to display athletes' vibrant movement in the most attractive way, according to the organizer. During the Opening Ceremony on July 23, three faceless performers recreated all 50 Olympic sports with amusing human pictograms in a fast-paced sequence. (end) mk.rk
