Ten people killed, 20 wounded as van suspected of carrying migrants crashes S. Texas

WASHINGTON, Aug 5 (KUNA) -- Up to 10 people were killed and 20 others were wounded late Wednesday after a van, believed to be carrying migrants, crashed near Encino, Texas, according to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The Department tweeted that "troopers are investigating a major crash at this time," and that traffic is being diverted.
According to media outlets, there were 30 people on board the van carrying "suspected illegal immigrants." The driver, who was among those killed, was driving at a high speed when trying to turn right and "veered off the roadway, striking a metal utility pole and a stop sign." Texas DPS Sergeant Nathan Brandley was quoted saying "we're trying to ID everybody and also go through the Mexican consulate to confirm if they are from out of the country or not." (end) si
