BEIRUT, July 28 (KUNA) -- A wildfire broke out in Akkar's Qobayat arae, in northern Lebanon, on Wednesday, and led to the killing of a young man and the injury of 23 others.
The fire which extended to about seven kilometers length and two kilometers width burnt tens of thousands of trees, that was the largest environmental disaster this year, National News Agency said on Wednesday.
The blaze also destroyed some bird and animal reserves, and caused damage to properties.
The Lebanon Red Crescent announced evacuating 17 people, providing first aid to 15 and transferring five others to the hospital.
Meanwhile, head of civil defense Remon Khattar said that the situation in the area is getting better. (end)
