Iran Supreme leader: US stagnant regarding Iranian nuclear file

TEHRAN, July 28 (KUNA) -- The United States is stagnant on its stance, and did not take any step towards better negations in the Iranian nuclear file, Iran's Supreme leader Ali Khamenei announced on Wednesday.
"The current government experience proved that dealing with the West is impractical, and they are unserviceable and harmful to us," Khamenei's media office quoted him as saying in his meeting with the former Iranian President Hassan Rohani, and his cabinet members.
"The Americans were stubborn and held their stances strongly, and did not proceed one single step", Khamenei added, referring to the latest nuclear negotiations between Tehran and the international parties interested in this file in Vienna.
"They gave promises of lifting sanctions, but they will not do so", he affirmed.
Iran held for a number of weeks a series of indirect negotiations with the United States via (4+1) countries in Vienna, capital of Austria, a deal which US withdrew from back in 2018.
The new Iranian government, headed by President-elect Ibrahim Raisi, will receive the follow-up nuclear negations file with the West, after the new Iranian cabinet members take the oath of office.
The 4+1 group are namely: China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, plus Germany. (end) mw.ams.lb
