EU calls on Tunisian actors to respect Constitution

BRUSSELS, July 26 (KUNA) -- The European Union, Monday, appealed for calm and called for respect of the Constitution in Tunisia after Tunisian President Kais Saied sacked the country's Prime Minister Hichem Mechichand suspended the parliament.
"We call on all Tunisian actors to respect the Constitution, its institutions and the rule of law," EU Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Nabila Massrali told journalists in Brussels.
"We also call on them to remain calm and to avoid any resort to violence in order to preserve the stability of the country," she said.
The EU is closely following the latest developments in Tunisia, she added. (end) nk.lr
