Countries update COVID-19 fatalities, infections

KUWAIT, July 25 (KUNA) -- Around the world, several countries on Sunday updated their new COVID-19 deaths and infections over the past 24 hours.
Morocco's ministry of health reported 30 virus-related deaths and 4,110 cases, raising death toll and total infections to 9,589 and 579,272 respectively.
As many as 1,525 people recovered from the disease in 24 hours, taking total recoveries to 543,603, the ministry added in a statement.
The number of patients receiving treatment at hospitals hit 23,525, including 713 at ICUs, it noted.
Meanwhile, Jordan declared 15 mortalities and 1,061 new infections in the same period.
Death toll rose to 9,963 and overall infections to 764,983, said a joint statement by the government and the Ministry of Health.
The total recoveries climbed to 746,960, while 513 patients are still receiving treatment.
Up to 8.34 million medical swabs have been conducted so far since the outbreak of the disease, it noted.
Furthermore, Britain said that 28 patients succumbed to the coronavirus and 29,173 people have been infected in 24 hours.
Death toll and overall infections have risen to 129,158 and 5,697,000 respectively, the British Department of Health and Social Care said in a statement.
Over 46.5 million people received a single shot of the anti-coronavirus vaccine and 37,160,000 others obtained two shots, it added.
Moreover, Algeria declared 21 new deaths and 1,287 infected cases over the past 24 hours.
The new figures pushed the death toll to 4,063 and infections to 162,155, Dr. Jamal Furar, spokesman of COVID-19 Monitoring and Follow-up Committee, said in a news conference.
As many as 626 people cured of the pandemic, raising the total recoveries to 110,557, he added, noting that there are still 45 patients at ICUs. (Pickup previous) mrn.mr.hm
