Global coronavirus update, recasting, adding more countries

KUWAIT, June 20 (KUNA) -- A number of countries across the globe on Sunday declared their deaths, infections and recoveries of the coronavirus (COVID-19) over the past 24 hours.
Yemen's higher committee for combating the coronavirus said in a statement that eight new infection cases were recorded in the country's government-administered provinces, in addition to 98 recovery cases. It also reported two new deaths in Hadhramaut.
The Yemeni commission added that the caseload swelled to 6,885 and the death toll to 1,355 against 3,953 recovery cases.
Meanwhile in Amman, Jordan, the premiership and the ministry of health said in a statement that the death toll climbed to 9,663 and the infection cases to 746,480 since emergence of the respiratory disease in the country.
It also reported 655 recovery cases at hospitals and house quarantines, with the whole number of the cured hitting 730,184. Meanwhile, there were 742 patients receiving treatment at hospitals.
In Baghdad, the Iraqi Health Ministry said in a statement that 25 covid-19 patients died and 4,160 individuals were listed among the infected, with the caseload swelling to 1,287,465.
It reported 24 new recovery cases in 12 governorates, with the whole count of the healed amounting to 3,989.
The death toll settled at 16,885 and the overall number of the cured at 1,200,103.
In Egypt, the health authorities there reported 566 infections and 38 deaths in the last 24 hours.
This brings the tally of infections and deaths to 276,756 and 15,829 respectively.
Recoveries reached 205,157 people with the addition of 456.
Meanwhile in Algiers, the local health ministry reported seven new fatalities as a result of contamination with the virus in addition to 342 freshly listed infection cases past 24 hours.
Dr. Jamal Forar, spokesman of the coronavirus response committee, said in his daily briefing that the caseload hit 135,928 and the death toll settled at 3,631.
Elsewhere in North Africa, the Moroccan health ministry said in a statement that a single a patient succumbed and 288 persons got infect past 24 hours. It added that the whole figure of the mortalities reached 9,238 and the infection cases 526,651.
Europe: In Rome, the Italian Health Ministry declared that 881 cases and 17 deaths were logged over past 14 hours, noting that the caseload settled at 4,252,976 and whole count of the deaths at 127,270.
It also reported that there were 389 patients in intensive care units.
The Netherlands Sunday reported 735 new coronavirus cases increasing the total number of infections to 1,679, 120.
One more death from COVID-19 was reported in the last 24 hours by the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, raising the total death toll to 17,729.
In Brussels, the total infections increased to 1,079,084 after registering 405 new cases reported by Belgian health authorities.
About seven more deaths were reported in the last 24 hours by the authorities raising the tally toll to 25,123.
Germany said that it had recorded 16 COVID-19 deaths and 842 infections in the last 24 hours.
According to Robert Koch Institute (RKI), COVID-19's death toll climbed to 90,385 while the total infections reached 3,721,981.
Asia: Meanwhile, Chinese authorities declared registering 23 COVID-19 cases, with no deaths during the past 24 hours.
Infections tally up to 91,587 cases, while deaths remained at 4,636, Xinhua news agency said quoting the National Health Commission (NHC).
However, 16 people officially recuperated and left the hospitals, to reach 86,441 recovered cases, whereas 510 people were still receiving treatment.
In India, the health authorities said 1,576 people died due to COVID-19 as 58,419 positive cases were registered from different parts of the country in the last 24 hours.
Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that deaths reached 386,713 as the total positive cases rose to 29,881,965.
The health ministry said that 28,766,009 people have recuperated from the pandemic as the second wave hit the nation unprepared.
Malaysia registered on Sunday 60 Coronavirus (Covid-19) deaths, while 5,293 infections were detected.
The death toll climbed to 4,408 in the country, whereas the total infections hit 6,964,08 Malaysian Ministry of Health added in a statement.
Meanwhile, Indonesia registered 371 Covid-19 deaths and 137,37 infections.
The pandemic death toll reached 54,662, cases, with total infections settling at 1,989,909, the Indonesian Ministry of Health said in a statement.
Elsewhere, Thailand registered 20 Covid-19 deaths and 368,2 infections.
The death toll reached 1,629, with 218,131, total infections, the Thai Ministry of Health reported.
In the Philippines, total 84 deaths were registered, 5,803 cases were recorded.
The pandemic infections toll reached 135,901,5 and deaths 23,621, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
In Cambodia, Covid-19 caused the death of 17 people, while infecting 659 others.
Pandemic death toll reached 431 and a total of 427,11 people were infected, the Cambodian Ministry of Health said.
In Vietnam, no Covid-19 related deaths were registered, while 217 infections were witnessed.
The pandemic death toll stabilized at 64, with total of infections settling at 13,117, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
Russia announced 17,611 new coronavirus cases and 450 deaths in the past 24 hours.
The total number of cases rose to 5,316,826 and deaths to 129,361, the Russian health authorities said in a statement. Meanwhile, recoveries settled at over 4,869,972. (end) kt.sam.rk
