Countries update daily COVID-19 tallies

KUWAIT, June 19 (KUNA) -- Countries worldwide continued to update their death and infection tallies from the coronavirus (COVID-19) Saturday, which still casts its grim presence over the globe.
The UAE reported five deaths due to coronavirus (COVID-19) and 2,109 infections within the last 24 hours.
The health authorities announced that the tally of infections around hit 610,179 cases, while deaths went up to 1,752.
Egyptian Ministry of Health has registered 31 coronavirus-related deaths and 589 new infections.
Ministry spokesman Dr. Khaled Mujahed, in a statement, said total deaths reached 15,791 and registered infections topped 276,190 people.
He added 899 people recovered from the virus to reach 204,701.
Meantime, Indian health authorities said that 1,647 people died due to COVID-19 as 60,753 fresh positive cases were registered from different parts of the country in a span of 24 hours. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that deaths due to COVID-19 mounted to 385,137 while the total positive cases surged to 29,823,546. According to the ministry, 28,678,390 people recuperated from the pandemic as the second wave hit the nation unprepared.
Germany said that it had recorded 99 coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths and 1,108 infections in the last 24 hours.
According to Robert Koch Institute (RKI), COVID-19's death toll climbed to 90,369, while the total infections reached 3,721,139. (end) kt.aa
