Kuwait reports 11 COVID-19 deaths, 1,459 infections

KUWAIT, April 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ministry of Health on Thursday reported 11 new COVID-19 deaths, and 1,459 infections in the past 24 hours.
The Ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad told KUNA that the total death toll increased to 1,493, and the caseload to 262,766 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Dr. Al-Sanad added that 1,414 patients recovered today bringing the total recoveries to 245,824, which makes the ratio of recoveries 93.55 percent of the total conducted tests.
A sum of 229 patients were sent to intensive care units, increasing the number of patients receiving health care to 15,449, he added.
Moreover, over the past 24 hours, 9,995 tests were conducted, with infection ratio of 14.60 percent, increasing total conducted tests to 2,256,129, he added.
Al-Sanad called on the public to maintain social distancing, and to abide with all health regulations that would help in stopping the virus spread. (end) mrv.mys
