Palestinian FM calls on OIC to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque

RAMALLAH, April 14 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs Riyad Malki on Wednesday called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and all its member states to work together to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem against Israeli violations.
Malki called in a letter to the OIC Secretary-General, Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, and all member states to put pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to stop their continuous aggression against Christian and Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem, foremost of which is Al-Aqsa Mosque.
In his message, the foreign minister reviewed the latest developments related to the occupation measures against Al-Aqsa, especially during the holy month of Ramadhan.
The first day of the month saw the Israeli forces seize the Iftar meals intended for the people who were fasting near the Mosque compound.
The forces smashed the door of a mosque in the area, and also sabotaged the loudspeakers to prevent the call for the evening prayer from Al-Aqsa Mosque's minarets. (end) nq.bb
