Kuwait lists 1,635 new COVID-19 cases, five deaths

KUWAIT, April 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ministry of Health has confirmed recording 1,635 new coronavirus infections and five related deaths in the past 24 hours.
The new figures take the total cases up to 248,729 and deaths to 1,412 respectively, noted the ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad in statements to KUNA.
He pointed out that some 1,316 more people had been cured of the virus over the past day, raising the total of those to have overcome the disease to 232,556.
He added that the number of people hospitalized with the virus currently stands at 14,761, with 228 of them in intensive care units.
Al-Sanad revealed that some 9,625 swab tests were conducted over the last day, increasing the total to 2,169,047.
He renewed calls for nationals and expatriates alike to abide by health precautions to curb the spread of the virus. (end) mrv.ibi
