KUWAIT, April 12 (KUNA) -- Tuesday will mark the first day of the holy Islamic month of Ramadan, Kuwait's moon-sighting committee announced on Monday.
After having met earlier, the committee revealed that the crescent moon was in clear sight, marking the eve of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic Hijri calendar preceded by Shaban of the year 1442, its head and Supreme Judicial Council Chairman, Justice Ahmed Al-Ajeel said.
On the occassion, the committee congratulated Their Highnesses the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Kuwait's nationals and expatriates as well as Arab and Muslim nations. (end) amn.sd
