KUWAIT, March 8 (KUNA) -- Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Li Minggang commended Monday the efforts of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) to help those impacted by disasters, especially in alleviating the suffering due to the repercussions of COVID-19.
Li confirmed to KUNA, after his meeting with Chairman of the Board of Directors of KRCS Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer, that Kuwait's humanitarian role has become distinguished, appreciating the efforts of all state agencies in combating the virus as well as in the vaccination campaign.
The embassy donated 100,000 medical masks to KRCS, with the aim of supporting the Kuwaiti side in combating the pandemic and to strengthen the necessary precautionary measures to confront the virus, he mentioned.
Li discussed with Al-Sayer many issues related to humanitarian work and ways to enhance it between both countries, appreciating KRCS' efforts and what it does to help the afflicted countries.
He explained that during the meeting, he was briefed on the extent of the humanitarian programs that KRCS is implementing at the international and local levels in tackling the virus, and its great role in supporting the state by providing aid to all groups in need.
In a similar statement to KUNA, Al-Sayer welcomed the visit of Li to the headquarters of KRCS and to review its activities and achievements that contributed to strengthening humanitarian efforts worldwide, expressing deep appreciation and gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for donating this quantity of medical masks, which confirms its pioneering role in supporting humanitarian efforts around the world.
The meeting covered the assistance provided by KRCS to the afflicted, and its most vital humanitarian actions and movements for relief and assistance to impacted areas, in addition to its role in combating COVID-19 inside and outside the country. (end) akw.tab.lr
