KUWAIT, March 8 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's political leadership advocates confidence in women's capacities and enabling them for active participation in sustainable development, a senior official affirmed on Monday.
The Kuwaiti women have proven that they are qualified, having accomplished a lot of major achievements, thus encouraging the state to launch more initiatives for enabling them to be "a basis in implementation of New Kuwait Vision 2035," said Minister of Electricity, Water and Energy, Minister of Social Affairs and Development, Dr. Meshaan Al-Otaibi.
The minister, in a statement marking the International Women's Day, singled out the women active participation in the combat against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) -- namely the noticeable role and efforts exerted by women volunteers.
Kuwait's development strategy focuses on eliminating all forms of gender indiscrimination and supporting the female citizens in public life, in politics and the economy, he has added. (end)
