KUWAIT, March 8 (KUNA) -- Public Authority for Sport and Woman Sport Committee at Kuwait Olympic Committee on Monday affirmed that strategy for overhauling women sports locally (2019-2023) aims at enabling female citizens in sports and upgrading as well whole sports entity.
Dr. Sagr Al-Mulla, the authority deputy director general for competitive sports affairs, said at a news conference, held at the authority headquarters, that the strategy, prepared by the authority and the committee, emphasized necessity of forming women sports commissions in various federations to organize competitions exclusive for the soft gender.
That purpose has been reached with respect of most of the federations, Dr. Al-Mulla has affirmed at the news conference.
The authority, for sake of encouraging girls to be involved in sports, will award female players, engage highly skilled ones in the "project of the Olympic champion to prepare them for international tournaments, and will also hold intensive training courses for women referees, administrators and couches."
He hailed support by Minister of Information, Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi for the Kuwaiti sports; particularly his backing for enabling the women in this realm.
Moreover, support given by the authority Director General Humoud Flaiteh and Chairperson of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee contributed to achieving the sports development strategy.
For her part, Chairperson of the Woman Sport Committee at the Olympic Committee, Fatma Hayat, has affirmed during the news conference that the strategy aims at backing female players and champions materially and morally. (end)
