Arab coalition intercepts Houthi-fired drone

JEDDAH, March 3 (KUNA) -- The Arab coalition supporting legitimate Yemeni government announced Wednesday night that its forces had intercepted and destroyed an explosives-laden drone launched by the Houthi militia towards civilian targets in the Saudi city of Khamis Mushait.
The Houthis fired the explosive-laden drone to "deliberately and systematically" target populated buildings and civilians in Khamis Mushait, coalition spokesman Cololen Turki Al-Malki was quoted by the Saudi press agency as saying.
He said the repeated attempts by the Houthis to fire drones and ballistic missiles were "continuous violations of international humanitarian law to attack residential areas and threatening lives of hundreds of civilians." The Saudi-led coalition, he added, would take necessary measures to protect civilians, and deter the Houthis in line with international humanitarian law.
Earlier today, the coalition shot down another Houthi drone that was launched towards the southern region.
The Houthis have been intensifying their attacks on Saudi Arabia for months now, launching ballistic missiles and explosive-laden drones towards the Kingdom and civilian objects. (pick up previous) nso.ibi
