European media body trains unbiased reporting on Muslims

BRUSSELS, March 3 (KUNA) -- The European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) Wednesday announced that it is organising a series of online training courses aiming to improve media reporting on Muslims and Islam.
The training aims to improve the understanding of Muslims and Islam through unbiased media reporting, connecting with Muslims and religious representatives as well as diversifying the mediasآ’ respective views and portrayals, EFJ said in a press release.
There are 30 spots available for journalists from EU and EU candidate countries or Council of Europe members, it noted.
The online training will take place on 23 April, 7 May and 21 May and will focus on the state of Islamophobia in the media and how can we push for more ethical journalism practices in the newsroom.
The Brussels-based EFJ is the largest journalists' organisation in Europe representing more than 320,000 journalists in 70 press organisations across 44 countries in Europe. (end) nk.sd
