Switzerland: 2,560 new covid cases, 16 deaths

GENEVA, March 1 (KUNA) -- Swiss health authorities on Monday revealed registration of 2,560 new covid-19 infection cases and death of 16 patients who succumbed to the fatal germ between last Friday and Sunday.
The Swiss health department said in a statement the caseload of the infections since arrival of the virus in the nation last February exceeded 557,000 while the mortalities resulting from the pandemic reached 9,287.
It has added that the whole figure of conducted swab tests for the virus has exceeded 4.3 million since February.
Moreover, the Swiss health quarters have been preoccupied with serious concerns about the emergence of strains of COVID-19, whose proportion is estimated at half of the cases. (end) ta.sam
