PARIS, Feb 28 (KUNA) -- France on Sunday said it recorded 122 deaths from COVID-19 and 19,952 infections in the past 24 hours.
The new figures pushed the country's death toll to 86,454 and total cases to 3.75 million, the health ministry said in a statement.
On Thursday, French Prime Minister Jean Castex stressed the deterioration of epidemiological situation due to the COVID-19 and the rise in the number of cases over the past few days.
He expressed concern about the situation because of the spread of the British strain of the virus that now makes up nearly half of the total infections in France. (end)
