Latest Covid infections in Malaysia: 2,437, Thailand: 70, Philippines: 2,113

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 (KUNA) -- Malaysia declared on Sunday recording 2,437 new infection cases with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and nine new deaths as a result of contamination with the germ over the past hours.
Caseload of the infections in the Asian country climbed to 300,752 and the death toll to 1,130, the Malaysian Ministry of Health said in a statement, adding that the whole count of the recoveries reached 273,417.
Elsewhere in Asia, Thailand reported 70 new infection cases but no deaths over the last hours.
The Thai Ministry of Health said in a statement the caseload reached 25,951 and mortalities 83. Meanwhile, count of the cured hit 25,128.
In the Philippines, the local health department said 2,113 new infections were recorded in addition to 29 mortalities during the past 24 hours.
The overall number of contaminations with the pathogen reached 576,352 while the deaths amounted to 12,318, in addition to 534,271 recoveries. (end) aib.rk
