France records 261 virus deaths, 25,403 cases

PARIS, Feb 25 (KUNA) -- France on Thursday declared registering of 261 deaths from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 25,403 infections in the past 24 hours.
These figures increased the death toll to 85,582 and total cases to 3,686,813, the French ministry of health said in a statement.
Earlier today, French Prime Minister Jean Castex stressed the deterioration of epidemiological situation due to the COVID-19 and the rise in the number of cases over the past few days.
He expressed concern about the situation because of the spread of the British strain of the virus that now makes up nearly half of the total infections in France. (end) mjz.rj.hm
