MoH: Some challenges of combating Covid-19 still present

KUWAIT, Feb 24 (KUNA) -- There are still some challenges of combating the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) but differ than the ones in 2020 with receiving the vaccine, Spokesman for the Ministry of Health Abdullah Al-Sanad said on Wednesday.
Speaking in a news conference, Al-Sanad said this means, "we entered the phase of protection and immunity through mutual cooperation." He added "we are witnessing a race between the protection amongst individuals and the start of the rise in epidemiological curve".
He noted that the presence of vaccine does not mean indolence in taking preventive measures in order to control epidemiological situation tightly.
He extolled medical staff working in the first lines for the safety of all citizens and residents as well.
Of outstanding strategies to combat the pandemic are responding to warnings and linking between science and decision-making to assess risks of the virus, he pointed out.
Al-Sanad referred that the ratio between the recoveries and infections is stable, reaching 93.6 percent.
The proportion between cases and swabs since the beginning of this month hit 9.7 percent and 11.4 percent today, he stated.
Earlier in the day, the MoH declared that 960 patients of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been cured of the germ-triggered ailment over past 24 hours.
Al-Sanad said tally of the patients who have been cured of the virus has hit 175,048. Proportion of the cured of the total casualties was estimated at 93.6 percent. (Pickup previous) mrf.tab.hm
