US, Egypt underline importance of partnership in combating terrorism

WASHINGTON, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry stressed Tuesday on the importance of the partnership, especially on the security front and "combating terrorism." In a statement, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the two sides highlighted, in a phone call, "the importance of the strong strategic partnership between the United States and Egypt, especially in the field of security and continued cooperation in combating terrorism." Price added that Blinken and Shukri also exchanged views on a number of regional issues, discussing "support for UN-facilitated peace negotiations in Libya," as well as the Middle East peace process, along with cooperation in "combating terrorism" in the northern Sinai Peninsula, Eastern Egypt.
