PM: Demographics issue needs to move to acceptable position to correct imbalances

KUWAIT, Jan 27 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said on Wednesday that the demographics issue needs to move to an acceptable position during the coming period in order to correct the imbalances in the labor market.
His Highness the Prime Minister added in a speech during his meeting with the editors-in-chief of local newspapers that "a law regarding demographics was approved by the National Assembly in the last legislative term, and executive regulations are being worked on now to amend the imbalance of the labor market." "I said previously that the ideal situation, which is supposed to be for the demographics, is 70 percent of citizens and 30 percent of residents," Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said.
"In order for us to move from this imbalance to an ideal situation ... we need at least to move to an acceptable position during the next stage, followed by a good position, and then more," he added.
The premier added, "the law was passed and implementing regulations started, and it will amend the imbalance in the labor market, which in turn will be reflected in the demographic composition." (end) jy.ns.mb
