BEIRUT, Jan 24 (KUNA) -- Lebanon on Sunday said daily coronavirus infections rose by 3,010 to push its cumulative total to 279,597, while 50 new fatalities upped the death toll to 2,340, health ministry data showed.
Some 165,729 people have recovered from the virus to date, according to government figures, as a continued surge in new COVID-19 cases has pushed the nation's healthcare system to the edge of capacity.
The government has extended a blanket lockdown and a state of emergency until February 8 to rein in the spread of the contagion. (end)
