Kuwait reports 533 new Covid-19 cases, one death

KUWAIT, Jan 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ministry of Health (MoH) on Friday announced that 533 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and one person died from the disease over the past 24 hours.
The total infections climbed to 160,367 and the mortalities to 952 after registering one death in 24 hours, Spokesman for the Ministry Dr. Abdulla Al-Sanad told KUNA.
Forty-eight patients are currently treated at intensive care units (ICUs), he said, adding that the total number of active cases hit 6,108.
He noted that the overall medical swabs conducted over the past 24 hours were 10,311, bringing the total tests to 1,446,503.
He renewed his call for both nationals and residents to abide by social distancing rules and other preventive measures.
He advised people to follow up the official websites and accounts of the ministry to get updated about necessary measures to stop the spread of the virus.
Earlier, the ministry said 481 COVID-19 patients recovered today, increasing the total to 153,307. (end) mak.tab.hm
