Biden sworn in as 46th US president

WASHINGTON, Jan 20 (KUNA) -- Joe Biden on Wednesday took the oath of office to become the 46th President of the United States.
Kamala Harris was sworn in as Vice President to be the first woman in the US' history to hold this post.
The inauguration ceremony was held amid exceptional conditions due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and tightened security amid fears of new violence following the unprecedented acts of violence in the US capital on January 6 by crowds of pro-former president Donald Trump supporters who also stormed the Capitol building.
