ADEN, Dec 30 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni government has charged Houthi militias with standing behind the today's deadly attack on Aden International Airport.
"The available information for the government indicates that attack which targeted the cabinet members at Aden airport is a terrorist and criminal act carried out by the Iran-backed Houthis," Foreign Minister Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak said in a statement aired by Yemen News Agency (SABA).
The Prime Minister and the government members are safe and have not been affected by the "terrorist" act, he added.
Meanwhile, Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdul-Malik stressed that the government will remain in Aden to practice its work.
In his first televised appearance after the attack, Abdul-Malik said the cowardly assault streghtened the government's determination to end the coup, and restore the security and stability across the country.
"Terrorism will not undermine our determination to unify the national rank so as to face terrorism until we achieve victory," he stated, affirming that there is no alternative to victory.
Moreover, Yemeni Interior Minister Ibrahim Haidan announced the killing of 22 persons and the injury of 50 others, including civilians, because of the attack on the airport.
The incident coincided with the arrival of the plane in Aden that was carrying the Yemeni government members, within the framework of implementing the Riyadh agreement.
Afterwards, President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi ordered the formation of a committee headed by Haidan to probe the incident, in coordination with the coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen. (end)
