AMMAN, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- Abdul-Moneim Odat was elected speaker of Jordan's newly-formed Lower House on Thursday after winning 84 votes while his closest rival Mohammed Inad Fayez got 26.
Ahmad Safadi was elected First Deputy Speaker by 86 votes.
King Abdullah II inaugurated the first extraordinary session of the 19th parliament earlier today after the MPs took the oath of office.
The 130 members of the House were elected on November 10 for a four-year term; 115 of them attended today's session. (end)
