France registers 214 virus-related deaths, 12,923 cases

PARIS, Dec 5 (KUNA) -- France said on Saturday that 214 patients succumbed to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 12,923 people tested positive for the disease in 24 hours.
Today's figures pushed the death toll to 54,981 and the overall infections to 2, 281, 5475, the French Ministry of Health said in a statement.
Last Thursday, French Prime Minister Jean Castex said the government allocated 1.5 billion euros (USD 1.8 billion) as part of the social security budget for 2021 to guarantee free COVID-19 vaccinations.
France has witnessed tightened lockdown measures that exclude basic and medical services, and schools, as part of the strict procedures taken by the French government so as to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the country which is facing a tough wave of the pandemic. (end) mjz.hm
