EU insists on immediate ceasefire in Afghanistan

BRUSSELS, Dec 4 (KUNA) -- The European Union Friday said that it has taken note of the preliminary agreement announced by the Afghan Government and the Taliban in talks held in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday .
"We have not yet seen any details of this agreement, and therefore cannot comment on it further," Nabila Massrali, EU Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, told an online press conference in Brussels today.
"That said, the EUآ’s overall position on the peace negotiations, and our expectations as regards its eventual outcome, have been made clear most recently by High Representative Josep Borrell at the Geneva Conference on 24 November," she noted.
"We continue to insist on the immediate agreement and full implementation of a nationwide ceasefire," added Massrali. (end) nk
