Charles Michel: We want Brexit deal but not at any cost

BRUSSELS, Dec 4 (KUNA) - The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, on Friday, said that the European Union is ready for all options regarding the outcome of the post-Brexit relations with the United Kingdom.
"We want a deal, but not at any cost," Michel, told an online news conference today marking his first year since taking office.
"In order to make a deal, we need agreement on both sides," Michel said.
"The question of the level playing field is key and it's really essential to make sure that what we put on the table at the end of the negotiations will be acceptable to all of the (EU) member states," he noted.
"We are still currently negotiating and Michel Barnier the chief negotiator is leading the negotiations. Therefore, we will see over the next few days what the next steps will be. I don't intend to make any predictions," he said.
Barnier is currently conducting negotiations in London on the post-Brexit trade agreement between the EU and the UK.
The UK left the EU in January after agreeing on a transition period that ends in December. (end) nk.aa
