ALGIERS, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- The Algerian Ministry of Health said on Thursday 16 patients died from the coronavirus (COVID-19) and 843 people tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours.
Today's figures pushed the total infections to 85,927 and the death toll to 2,480 since the outbreak of the pandemic, Dr. Jamal Furar, spokesperson for COVID-19 Monitoring and Follow-up Committee, said in a press conference.
Up to 548 recoveries were confirmed in the same period, taking the overall to 55,538, he added.
Some 45 patients are being treated at intensive care units, he noted.
He called on citizens to be vigilant, and committed to quarantine, and stick to social distancing. (end)
