KRCS celebrates Int'l Day for people with disabilities

KUWAIT, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) stressed on Thursday the importance of supporting individuals with disabilities to meet their social needs.
In a statement to (KUNA) on the occasion of the International Day for People with Special Needs, Secretary General of KRCS Maha Al-Bajas said that caring for those people is a responsibility that must by carried out by all parts of the society.
She added that Kuwait is one of the first countries that took care of people with disabilities by giving them A special priority, which making Kuwait an example in international forums.
KRCS is keen to activate programs and activities to support people with special needs and activate their role in society, she stated.
Al-Barjas said that celebrating this day aims to raise awareness in society toward the rights of people with special needs and help to enroll them in the society and achieve equality with others.
She affirmed the KRCS's interests in this social category not only for one day, but all year long, by offering direct and indirect aid through several social developing programs.
Today's activity will include distribution of medical equipment, apparels, and vouchers, Al-Barjas concluded. (end) akw.nhq
