NEW DELHI, Nov 26 (KUNA) -- Indian health authorities announced on Thursday that 524 people died due to COVID-19 while 44,489 fresh cases were reported from across the country in the last 24 hours.
The Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said, in a statement, that deaths due to the coronavirus surged to 135,223 while the total number of positive cases amounted to 9,266,705.
According to the health ministry, 8,679,138 people recovered from the pandemic as it spread to 35 Indian states.
Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are the worst hit Indian states. (end)
