NEW DELHI, Nov 25 (KUNA) -- India said on Wednesday that 481 people succumbed to COVID-19 while 44,376 positive cases were reported from different parts of the country in the last 24 hours.
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in a statement that fatalities due to the deadly virus amounted to 134,699 while the total number of positive cases rose to 9,222,216.
The health ministry said that 8,642,771 people recuperated from the pandemic as it spread to 35 Indian states.
Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are the worst hit Indian states.
The pandemic which first broke out in China late last year has so far infected more than 59 million people globally, in addition to killing more than 1.409 million others.
Nations, namely the worst affected, are eagerly awaiting mass production and distribution of vaccines to curb the infections. (end)
