Saudi oil facility comes under "terrorist" attack -- Official

JEDDAH, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- A projectile hit a fuel tank at the petroleum products distribution terminal, causing an explosion, a spokesman of the Saudi Ministry of Energy said on Monday.
The assault took place in Jizan, near the floating offloading platform of the petroleum products distribution terminal, north Jeddah, at 3:50 am today, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Denouncing the assault as "a cowardly act of terrorism," the spokesman said the firefighters managed to extinguish the fire and no casualties resulted from the attack.
"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reaffirms that acts of terrorism and sabotage against vital installations, including the latest attack and the previous ones in Abqaiq and Khurais, are aimed at the security and stability of energy supplies to the world, as well as the global economy," SPA quoted the official as saying in a statement.
The spokesman reiterated the Kingdom's determination to confront such terrorist and sabotage acts, and all entities that stand behind them.
On a similar note, the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen said in a statement, "The terrorist assault on one of the oil derivatives distribution stations in (Jeddah) is a cowardly terrorist assault on global energy security and supply." (end) nsa.gb
