Biden names pick for foreign policy, national security team

WASHINGTON, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- US President-elect Joe Biden announced Monday his picks for Secretary of State and national security team.
Biden announced that he plans to name Antony Blinken as secretary of state, Jake Sullivan as national security advisor and Linda Thomas-Greenfield as US ambassador to the United Nations.
He also announced that he plans to appoint Alejandro Mayorkas as secretary of homeland security, Avril Haines as director of national intelligence and former Secretary of State John Kerry as special presidential envoy for climate.
"We have no time to lose when it comes to our national security and foreign policy," Biden said in a statement. "I need a team ready on Day One to help me reclaim America's seat at the head of the table, rally the world to meet the biggest challenges we face, and advance our security, prosperity, and values. This is the crux of that team." He also tweeted "Under the Biden-Harris administration, American national security and foreign policy will be led by experienced professionals ready to restore principled leadership on the world stage and dignified leadership at home."
