KUWAIT, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Cabinet on Monday praised the "important, positive" results achieved under Saudi Arabia's leadership of the G20 summit, a minister said on Monday.
Ministers at the Cabinet's weekly session said the talks, held for the first time in the region, would restore reassurance and hope to nations, in light of the difficult economic and health conditions experienced as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, added the minister.
Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh said that the successful outcome of the talks reflects the "positive and vital role" Riyadh plays at all levels.
This is coupled with Saudi Arabia's record of remarkable achievements regionally and internationally and its sincere commitment to protecting human beings everywhere.
Locally, Minister of Health Sheikh Basel Al-Sabah briefed ministers on COVID-19 statistics in the country, which showed a decrease in the number of cases, deaths and people receiving intensive care treatment along with an increase in recovery rates, compared to last week.
The Cabinet reiterated its call for the public to continue abiding by health guidelines, saying this factor remains crucial in confronting the pandemic, mitigating its effects, avoiding its potential risks and returning to pre-pandemic times.
Ministers were also briefed by the Minister of Justice and Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Dr. Fahad Al-Afasi on the conclusion of the ministerial committee tasked with forming the mechanism for the election process in a way that ensures voters can exercise their right to vote and ensure compliance with health requirements.
On Arab and international political affairs, the Cabinet expressed Kuwait's strong condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist attack that took place in Iraq's Salaheddine, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of innocent people.
The ministers underlined Kuwait's solidarity and support of Iraq, in all measures it takes to preserve its security and stability, extending its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and its wishes for a speedy recovery for those injured. (end) sd
