Priest injured in armed attack in Franceآ’s Lyon

PARIS, Oct 31 (KUNA) -- French police on Saturday announced the injury of a priest in a shooting incident in Lyon City, saying the attacker ran away. Police forces are dealing with a "dangerous incident" in Lyon, the ministry of interior said in a statement.
Security forces and ambulance units were deployed in the Jean Massi area in the seventh district in Lyon in the wake of the incident, it added.
A security cordon was imposed around the site, calling for avoiding visiting this area for the time being, it noted.
A police source said the attacker was holding a hunting rifle and shot a priest who was closing the church. The priest is now in critical condition.
Last Thursday, Nice witnessed a knife attack that killed and wounded several people.
In the wake of the assault, French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced that security alert has been raised nationwide. (end) mjz.hm
