Turkey's quake victims up to 21 dead, 804 injuries

ISTANBUL, Oct 31 (KUNA) -- Casualties in the 6.6-magnitude earthquake, which hit the western city of Izmir, Turkey, had increased to 21 dead and 804 injuries, Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said Saturday.
AFAD added that the quake was followed by 296 aftershocks with 27 measuring over 4.0 degrees.
On Friday, a powerful earthquake hit Izmir western Turkey at 02:21 pm local-time. The epicenter of the quake occurred at Aegean Sea at a depth of about 17 kilometers. (end) ta.gta
