Around three dozen Kuwait NGOs indignant over Prophet Mohammad cartoons

KUWAIT, Oct 29 (KUNA) -- Some 37 Kuwaiti non-governmental organizations (NGOs) rebuked France on Thursday for the publication of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad, which triggered a wave of anger across the Muslim world. "Any vitriolic content directed at our holy prophet is tantamount to a grave insult to Muslims worldwide," the NGOs said in a joint statement, singling out France for "some ideologies that infringe on fundamental rights and sow seeds of hatred." The bodies concurred that it was "impossible to remain silent over such inflammatory material," which only serves to "undermine interfaith harmony," calling on the UN Human Rights Council to take proper action to ensure that such acts are never repeated.
Muslims deem any depiction of the Prophet Mohmmad highly blasphemous. (end) mrf.nam
