Arab Parliament affirms support of Palestinian people

CAIRO, Oct 29 (KUNA) -- The Arab Parliament affirmed, Thursday, its support for the Palestinian people and their aspirations to establish their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital, and to continue efforts to end the Israeli occupation.
This came in a speech delivered by the Arab Parliament Speaker, Adel Al-Asoomi at the opening of the first ordinary session of the third legislative session parliament in Cairo.
Al-Asoomi pointed to the parliament continuing efforts to stop the Israeli settlements and solve the refugee issue in accordance with international legitimacy decisions.
He stressed that the parliament stands with the legitimacy of the Yemeni people, affirming the need to continue the Yemeni consultations to reach a comprehensive political solution according to the three agreed terms of reference.
On the Libyan crisis, Al-Asoomi affirmed the parliament's full solidarity with the Libyan people, welcoming the agreement of the parties to the joint military committee of the (Government of National Accord) and the (Libyan National Army) for a permanent ceasefire in all parts of Libya.
On Syria, he stressed the importance of reaching a political solution in Syria to get out of the crisis in a way that preserves Syria's unity and fulfills the aspirations of its people for a decent life.
Al-Asoomi also affirmed that the parliament stand with Iraq and its people in their legitimate demands for a free and dignified life.
He also stressed the parliament's support for Egypt in the negotiations (the Renaissance Dam) in Ethiopia, in order to reach a fair agreement that preserves Egypt's right to the Nile waters as well as Sudan's right. (end) mfm.aa
