EU underlines support for strong UN

BRUSSSELS, Oct 24 (KUNA) -- The European Union Saturday reiterated its commitment to multilateralism and a strong United Nations.
"A strong UN must remain at the heart of our collective efforts to deal with the challenges of the 21st century and lead the world to build back better," said UN High Representative Josep Borrell in a statement to mark UN Day today.
"While others turn away, the EU is committed to preserve global cooperation and strengthen multilateral relations with our partners across the globe. The EU will continue to be a pillar of the United Nations, its main contributor and its main supporter, for the sake of our citizens and of the whole world," he noted.
"Through global and coordinated action we can and will overcome the coronavirus pandemic," added the statement. (end) nk.sd
