S. Korea adds 114 new virus cases, total now at 23,455

TOKYO, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- South Korea added 114 new coronavirus cases on Friday, bringing the country's total caseload to 23,455, according to Yonhap News Agency.
There were two additional deaths from COVID-19, raising the death toll to 395, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
Of the 95 new local infections, 56 reported in Seoul and 26 in the surrounding Gyeonggi Province.
The government set the two weeks starting September 28 as a special period for strong nationwide antivirus efforts, as millions of South Koreans travel across the nation to meet their families and relatives during the Chuseok fall harvest holiday, which runs from September 30 to October 4.
The operation of 11 types of "high-risk" facilities, including nightspots and buffets, will be suspended in the densely populated Seoul area for the two-week period.
The government also plans to strengthen quarantine measures at facilities such as restaurants and theaters in Seoul and the surrounding areas. (end) mk.gta
