RIYADH, Sept 23 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf held a virtual meeting with Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres on Wednesday to discuss issues of common concern.
The videoconference, a sideline event of the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly, reviewed the implementation of the agreements signed by both organizations with emphasis on economic growth and sustainable development, according to a press release from the GCC Secretariat.
Dr. Al-Hajraf and Guterres share the desire to strengthen cooperation to combat the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the statement noted.
On the Yemeni crisis, both sides highlighted the importance of resumption of the inter-Yemeni peace talks in the light of the GCC initiative and its executive mechanisms as well as the UN Security Council Resolution 2216. (end) mdm.sam.gb
